Storyboard Plan

All shot in black and white. Main character male. Ambient white noise sounds throughout. Scene 1: Mare sitting on the chest of the main character in bed. Flicker between shots of the main characters face, the mares face, and the whole view of the mare sitting on his chest. Scene 2: Close up of the main characters face, stood up, encased in darkness. Distorted filming. Zooming in and out. Scene 3: Lighting suddenly changes from dark to light. Facial expression of the main character changes. Zoom out from his face to show an ocean of water in front of him. Close up of water. Getting choppier and choppier. Scene 4: Close up of main characters face encased in darkness again. Slowly zoom out to reveal multiple women's torsos hung up on a wall. Main character walks towards one of the torsos. He reaches out to touch it. As his hand is about to reach it the whole scene changes and his hand is touching a mirror instead. Scene 5: Main character looking at his reflection in the mirror. His reflection keeps flickering between a true reflection and one of a creepy girl with wide eyes. Scene 6: Creepy girl from the reflection sat on the ground. Encased in darkness. Small light source creates a glow around her. She’s looking down into a notebook. She looks up. Her head is twitching from side to side and her mouth starts opening in a distorted manner. Gentle but confusing sounds of an animal screeching starts coming out of her mouth. Her eyes widen. Scene 7: Main characters back at the ocean. The waves are getting bigger and bigger. Character falls backwards in a confused panic. Massive tidal wave begins to emerge. Character winces and closes his eyes. Darkness. Scene 8: Light begins to emerge from the centre of the darkness, revealing the creepy girl sitting down. Her callings are getting louder and more intense. As are her body movements. More of a scary animal screeching is coming out of her mouth. The camera is getting closer and closer to her. Scene 9: Flicker between distorted shots of the girl, the torsos and the tidal wave. Really fast. End on the main character's face encased in darkness again, with eyes closed. Scene 10: His eyes open. Darkness switches too light. He’s on the floor still looking at the emerging tidal wave. He scrambles to his feet, and begins to run away. After a few paces he suddenly stops. His face changes from panic too peaceful. He turns to face the wave. Puts his arms out and lets the wave crash over him. Darkness. Scene 11: Main character encased in water. He’s in peace. No panic. Eyes closed in the position of a monk meditating. Water passing all around him.

End

Using a Night ‘Mare’ from German folk law in the opening scene to signify that the following scenes are the dream.

The creepy girl represents the shadow self. The tidal wave and torso appear as expected. The shadow self is concealed as a girl and is calling out to be heard in an animal format to amplify that it's hidden from consciousness.

The main character is introduced to the 3 dream symbols throughout the animation, at first with confusion and panic. The aim is to show that if one turns to face the wave (acknowledges the unconscious projections) then the spiritual self with align with the actual self; a sense of peace can be achieved through listening to what your unconscious is expressing via dreams, instead of 'running away' from it.
